Congregation History
From a living room in 1952 to a thriving church family today—our story is one of God’s faithfulness and the dedication of His people. We’re grateful for every member, leader, and family who helped plant and nurture the work in Seneca, and we’re excited about the chapter God is still writing.
Our Story
The Seneca Church of Christ began in 1952 when 23 Christians gathered in the home of Thomas and Audrey Rackley to worship, study, and encourage one another. With support from the Judson Mill congregation in Greenville (later Edgewood Church of Christ), the young church soon rented a meeting space. By 1955, a first meeting house was completed on Townville Street in Seneca.
Through every season, God provided people who stepped forward to teach, serve, and shepherd. Ministers, elders, families, and friends of the congregation worked together so the gospel could take root and grow in our community.
Today we’re a diverse church family—college students, young families, and long-time members—united in Christ and devoted to simple, New Testament Christianity: worshiping together, growing in God’s Word, serving our neighbors, and sharing the good news of Jesus.
